Qinhuangdao showcases a relatively comprehensive industrial coverage, mainly including metallurgical engineering, building materials, textile, electronics, machinery and food/oil processing, furnishing QETDZ-based investors with an exceedingly advantageous supporting environment in terms of a fully-developed production supply chain and favorable research and human resources.

Having undergone a development process of 24 years, QETDZ is now best-known for its six key industries, including bioengineering and electronic informationization, cereals oil and food processing, automobile parts, Heavy-duty equipment manufacturing, metal rolling and glass building material industries. At present, these industries have accounted for 80% of the overall industrial output of the QETDZ (excluding those generated by enterprises below the designated size). Therefore, they are aptly dubbed the driving force behind local economic growth.

A) Bioengineering and Electronic Informationization Industry
At the Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone (QETDZ), bioengineering and electronic informationization (EI) have been identified as two leading industries, to which full priority has been given for future development. In terms of bioengineering, the QETDZ is home to a host of key enterprises specializing in this field, including Qinhuangdao Leading Science & Technology Development, Sino-Arab Chemical Fertilizers Company Limited (SACF), Zhongwang Bioengineering and Qinhuangdao Changsheng Agricultural Science & Technology Development, etc. As regards the electronic informationization industry, the QETDZ boasts a total of over 140 EI and software manufacturers, of which 11 have distinguished themselves with 21 EI projects being classified as state/province-level programs, leading to the emergence of a large number of industrial leaders such as Foxconn Qinhuangdao Science Park, GST Holdings Limited, Contec Medical System Co., Ltd., Software Group of Yanshan University, Software Group of Northeastern University and Chenlong Information Technology Co., Ltd. As a result, the QETDZ is officially designated as a “Software Industrial Base of Hebei Province (Qinhuangdao)” and one of “Hebei Service-Outsourcing Demonstration”.

B) Heavy-duty Equipment Manufacturing Industry
An industry cluster for the manufacturing of Heavy-duty industrial equipments has taken shape at the QETDZ. This industry cluster takes Harbin Power Station Equipment Group (Qinhuangdao) Heavy Equipment Co., Ltd., Tianwei Baobian (Qinhuangdao) Transformer Co., Ltd., Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd., and Qinye Heavy Industry Group as its key enterprises, supported by a complete range of component suppliers including GE-HPEC-NTC Energy Services （Qinhuangdao）, Wukuang Tianwei (Qinhuangdao) Steel Co., Ltd., Steel Products Processing Allocation Center of the Shougang Group and Qinhuangdao Power Equipment Logistics Co., Ltd. In this respect, core products at the QETDZ include bridge construction, railway turnouts, shipbuilding and repair, power supply, power transmission and transformation equipment, large-size metallurgical valve and construction machinery for road and railway transport, etc.

C) Automobile and Auto Parts Industry
Showcasing a large number of car parts producers, e.g. TI automotive, Asahi Automotive Glass (China) Co., Ltd., Dicastal Wheel Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Xinglong Industry Group, Qinhuangdao Dicamry Wheel Co., Ltd., and Castec Industry （Qinhuangdao）Co., Ltd., the QETDZ has established itself as China’s largest and most advanced production base of high-end wheel-hubs and the second largest national production base of automotive glass products, with an industrial structure highlighted by core products including special-purpose vehicles, car wheel-hub, glass, fluid system, wiring harness, rearview mirror and sedan door, etc.

D) Cereals Oil and Food Processing Industry
As the largest Cereals Oil and Food Processing base in north China featuring core products such as bean pulp, soybean oil, flour, forage, convenience food and malt, Qinhuangdao has attracted investments from world leaders in the food industry, including ADM (world's largest food processor), Wilmar International (world’s largest food trader), COFCO (largest flour processor in Asia), Chia Tai (a Fortune top 500 company) and Supertime Development Company Limited (No.1 maltster in Asia).

E) Metal rolling industry
QETDZ is home to a wealth of famous metal rolling enterprises, including Alcoa Bohai Aluminum Co., Ltd., Qinhuangdao Shougang Plate Co., Ltd., Wan Chi Steel Pipe (Qinhuangdao) Co., Ltd., Qinhuangdao Development Zone Aluminum Alloy, Minmetals & Tianwei Steel（Qinhuangdao）, Zhongyue POSCO (Qinhuangdao) Tinplate Industrial Co., Ltd., Zhongyou BSS (Qinhuangdao) Petropipe Co., Ltd. and Shouqin Steel Processing and Distribution Center. Its local metal rolling industry revolves around core products, i.e. aluminum alloy and steel plates, and is characterized by environmental friendliness and superior production efficiency. The QETDZ is widely recognized as a major Chinese producer of top-quality heavy plates and processed aluminum products as well as the largest production base of tinplates.

F) Glass Building Material Industry
The glass building material industry is the traditional pillar industry of the QETDZ. There are not only large glass manufacturer like AOGE Group and Northern Mingjing Class Company, but also dozens of distinctive class processing enterprises such as Lihua Glass, etc. The zone has now formed a complete glass building material industry system, a combination of production, processing, machinery manufacturing and after-sales service. The system has laid a solid foundation for building an internationally advanced glass productive and processing base with a series of categories.

Alongside a continuous consolidation of existing leading industries, our efforts will be focused on a transformation of the QETDZ into a highly-advanced manufacturing, hi-tech and modern logistic base in northern China and the first data industrial base in the world.
