1) Port
The Qinhuangdao Port, as a key general-purpose seaport in China and one of the largest in the world, has an annual throughput in excess of 250 million tons, and its regular clients spread over 130 countries and regions all around the globe. It has established container shipping routes serving many parts of China as well as cities overseas, e.g. Tianjin, Dalian, Yantai, Shanghai, Inchon (Korea) and Kansai (Japan), etc. Complemented by local shipping operators such as the Xinkaihe Port, Qinshan Chemical Industry Port and the Shanhaiguan Port, the Qinhuangdao Port has established itself as an important gateway to the Pacific for northern, northeastern and northwestern Chinese cities. Two 35,000-ton quays of the Shanhaiguan Port currently underway at the eastern section of the QETDZ—to be joined by six 35,000-70,000-ton quays due in the second construction phase—will lay a solid foundation for the development of local equipment manufacturing and food/oil processing industries.

2) Railroad
As a key railway hub in northern China, Qinhuangdao serves as the junction site for three national railway lines, i.e. Beijing-Harbin Line, Beijing-Qinhuangdao Line and Dalian-Qinhuangdao Line, and also an integral part of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge. Beijing-Shenyang Railway Express, the first high-class passenger rail line ever built in China, is due to be completed shortly, and the latter half, serving Qinhuangdao and Shenyang, has already been put into full operation; followed by the completion of the currently ongoing Tianjin-Qinhuangdao express passenger rail line, an "one-hour" economic circle between Beijing, Tianjin and Qinhuangdao will come into being, thus injecting fresh impetus into the regional economic development; the Shanhaiguan Railway Station is designated as a national network marshalling station and is, therefore, accorded considerable traffic importance.

3) Highway
Beijing-Shenyang expressway, the coastal expressway and State highways G102 and G205 work in a swift highway network.The construction of the Chengde-Qinhuangdao Expressway is scheduled to start in 2009. Upon completion, it will become a main artery linking West Liaoning with Inner Mongolia.
